Welcome to Bedford Public Schools Nutrition!

 

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

All meals served this year in our schools will be no charge for all students. The USDA has created a waiver eliminating meal charges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Free and reduced meal applications are still available this year under regulations from the USDA. However, an approved free and reduced meal application is not necessary to be eligible for free meals since the waiver has gone into effect. The meal application process is being implemented by School Lunch Programs as per the USDA. Approval for a meal application may qualify a student family for a pandemic EBT card (information can be found on this welcome page) and will qualify a student for meal benefits for up to 30 days of the next school year. 

Important Notice to those ordering lunches: The USDA provides partial meal reimbursement to our School Lunch Program for the cost of meals served, not meals ordered.  The School Lunch Program is paying for the cost of food, labor and paper supplies for every meal prepared whether it is picked up or not. If a meal is ordered, please have your student pick up their meal. During two of the last three days at one of our schools, a total of 56 lunches were ordered and not picked up. This added cost to our program stretches our already tight budget. Please help us to control our expenses. Thank you.

 

Online Ordering!

We are proud to offer online ordering for both students and parents again this year! Lunches need to be ordered a day in advance by 12 PM. Online ordering is handled through our vendor named LINQ. Login questions should be directed to LINQ either via phone 800-541-8999 option 2 or online at https://www.linq.com/support/

Quick Notes re: Ordering. You can change a menu item you previously ordered by reentering you account, click on the day in question. Click the item and click remove or cancel. Then re-enter the correct menu item.  Unfortunately, this will not work after the deadline has passed for the day the menu item is ordered, the deadline is noon the day before.

Some families have been having difficulty seeing menus for Monday's. A few fixes from LINQ include using Chrome for your browser, using a laptop or desktop (there seems to be issues with mobile devices), or removing cookies if this is an issue.
